What is a schedule?
We're often asked what a schedule is, basically it is the rule book, it sets out the requirements/standards to be achieved.
The opening page of the schedule holds the main requirements/standards and then under each section there will be additional requirements/standards set out at the top under the section heading.

- All entries to be on official entry form (download here).
- All entries to be grown, made or created by the named exhibitor unless otherwise stated.
- At time of entry, all entrants must be a permanent resident of Western Bay of Plenty.
- Presentation of awards will be at 3pm on Show Day.
- All Entries, Cups, Trophies and Awards must remain in the hall until 3.30pm of the Show Day.
- Judging will take place prior to show day.
- Presentation is all part of Judging. The judges will cut, open and taste entries. Judges do not have to award prizes unless exhibits have met the required standard.
- Judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- A maximum of 1 entry by one individual exhibitor per category except where otherwise stated.
- All entries and prize money MUST be collected between 3.30pm and 5pm on Show Day.
- Any entries or prize money not collected by 5pm will become the property of the Katikati A&P Society who will dispose of the items as the Society deems fit.

- All entries must be homemade.
- Must be the own work of the exhibitor.
- Jars must be released with no wax seals.
- Exhibitor name and phone number must be on the base of the entry.
Hints & Tips
- Lids easy to remove for Judge to taste all entries - no wax seals.
- Jars must be clear glass, clean, well-polished and free of stickiness, drips, and finger marks.
- Plain jar – not decorative unless requested, judge’s decision is based on flavour, texture, colour.
- Name of variety must be entered onto entry sheet and displayed on the top of the plate.
- Condition is fresh, firm, with no signs of blemishes, bruising, pests or disease.
- Size — all fruits should be above the average size for the cultivar, but enormous specimens could be considered a defect.
- Stalks — apricots, nectarines, peaches, blueberries and citrus fruit are to be shown without stalks. All nuts are shown without stalks or husks. All other fruits such as apples, cherries, grapes, olives, passionfruit, pears, plums, raspberries and strawberries should be shown with stalks and remain intact.
- Peas should always be shown with a short length of stalk attached.
- Lettuce can be shown with roots washed and left on. The roots can be wrapped in moist kitchen roll and put in a polythene bag.
- Tomatoes - keep the tops on.
- Eggs must be in a clean egg carton; they must not be commercially produced.
- Vases for flowers must be clean.
- If the cake says unfilled, then leave it unfilled.
- Use the recipe on the website if stated. (Categories 66 & 76)
- All baking should be covered in clear plastic wrap or shower cap.
- Needlecraft section - keep your tension right.
- Repurposed bed linen (sheets, pillowcase, duvet cover) to create a new article can be anything made out of that bedlinen.
