A WORD FROM THE EQUESTRIAN ORGANISERS:
The Katikati A & P Show has been around for a long time, over 100 years.
What a journey this has been, the changes, volunteers, animals,
Home Industries, photography, wood chopping, Trade sites, entertainment and much more
We are fortunate to have had an original committee with the vision to bring the Show together.
What a firm foundation our forebears created and here we are 100 years later and going strong.
Our equestrian sections have been ever increasing, and one of the speciality classes is the Side Saddle classes. You saw more than a little of Lady Mary riding Side Saddle in the series Downton Abbey. Such an elegant picture and not for the faint hearted.
At Katikati show you will see our ladies riding Side Saddle which is very fitting for our 100th show.
I hope you enjoy this small video of one of our Side Saddle ladies – Shirley Collie from Cambridge, performing in the musical equitation at Waikato Show (below).
Shirley and her horse are in costume and at the Katikati show we also have a costume class.
The Side Saddle Classes will be on at 12.15 pm on Show day in the Horse arena.
Be sure to join us for a step back in time on show day 2025.

SHOW HUNTER
As KatiKati A & P show has evolved over the years we no longer have the old faithful's of working hunter and hunter jumping in the hack and pony rings.
The reason being space KatiKati is a small but perfectly formed show but we do not have a large area.
However we do have 10 show hunter classes open to horse and pony competitors,
The show hunter classes run at KatiKati are green classes ie not horse of the year qualifying.
The high points prize winner in the past wins the silver salver -$150.00 and a tri sash.
Throughout the years we have been well supported by locals especially Alan Dawson, this year however we are very pleased to announce an increase in our points prize and the addition of local supporters Don and Edith Hoseason.
Alan, Don and Edith have very generously upped our high points prize to $1,200.00, which is unheard off, but as they said this is our 100th show.
Show hunter is a discipline whereby young and green horses can have a round at a height which suits them as the hack and pony classes vary in height.
Show hunter competitors are able to have a practice round, which is not allowed in other disciplines, how good is that, just great to settle the horse and get your eye in.
Our local rider Haylee Haworth, will be riding again this year, Haylee is having a very good season with her team and we wish her all the best this year.
Haylee has been the high points winner for the last two years, so no pressure Haylee.
100 years what a difference our forebears would see, so come and have a great family day out , we have so much for you to see and participate in .
Remember this is the accumulation of 100 years of volunteering in the district from the first show being run to raise funds for the Old Library, (within the Uretara Domain) which still stands today.
