​Highland Dancing Stage Donated to Katikati A & P Show

In 2023 the Tina Peet School Of Dance made the amazing donation of the Highland Dancing stage to the Katikati  A & P Show.
Here is a bit of a background about Tina, the school and the stage from Tina herself:
“The Tina Peet School Of Dance opened in 1972 in Tauranga. A move to Katikati in 1978 meant dance lessons were commenced in the dining/family room  at our Tui Place home, followed by a new dance studio at the back of the garage. Then a large studio at Wharawhara Road.
“ As the school grew, dance parents got together and formed the Katikati Highland and National Dance Club. This club resurrected  the Highland and National dance competitions at the KatiKati A and P Show.
“The school continued growing and performed on a very regular basis. One day I was chatting to one of the dads (Warren Clark) about my dream of getting a portable stage. He came back to me several weeks later with a diagram scribbled on a piece of paper. How about this Mrs Peet? I was speechless, overwhelmed and excited all at the same time.
 “Warren organised for Harpers Engineering and other friends to build it.
 “It was a dream come true, with hundreds of displays, lots of A&P Shows, concerts etc the stage was well used. Fifty teaching years later (36 in KatiKati) the school has now officially closed.
 “The stage now belongs to the Katikati A and P Society. Hopefully it will continue to see hundreds and hundreds more dancers and performers enjoying it.”
