Makeover for Katikati A&P Hall

​Shiny as a new pin - the A&P hall has had repairs and a new paint of coat to the roof thanks to a grant of $14,149 from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council's Facilities in the Community Fund and matched with $16,549 funding from Grassroots Trust.  This follows on from another grant from Grassroots Trust in 2020 which paid for the outside walls of the hall to have a fresh lick of paint.  Thanks to Tallman Painting and KiwiSpout for doing the work on the roof!
 
The A&P Hall is one of the oldest in Katikati and the committee is working hard to modernise the interior so that it is a facility that can be used more by the community.  The hall and show grounds are in regular use by the Katikati Wrestling Club, the Friday night Farmers' market and various other markets.
 
The A&P committee were devastated when the bad weather caused the cancellation of this year's show once again, having cancelled the previous two years due to COVID-19.  The next show in February 2024 will be the 99th and the committee is looking at extending the show into a two-day event, as it always used to be, with equestrian events planned for the Sunday.  "We're planning on making the 99th show the best yet, and work is already underway for the big one in 2025 which will be the 100th show," said Katikati A&P Committee President, Louellen Davies.
